A Little Hug After Play Time

I have had dinner and a nap. Mom And Dad are winding down trying to read, so now I am going to try to annoy them, playing with a ball on the couch!!!
All tired out now, a little rest.

We do not know Anya's history, other than what came with the adoption papers. She was give up for adoption because her owners "traveled too much" We think she may have been traveling with them, possibly in a motor home. She was declawed and she will randomly jump up on a chair, and hold on for dear life.
I have never seen a cat sit like this. She is doing this less and less over time...

Out For a Stretch, Finally!

 One Week's Harvest
After 13 days of below-freezing temperatures, some single digit, it finally warmed up. It was close to 40 degrees today. The chickens have been confined to their coop and sun room, and a 4-square foot piece of cardboard right outside their door since Christmas. Chickens don't like getting their feet in snow! Today they explored most of the garden, even though there was still some snow.

Tonight Nancy made a Garden Frittata. It is a delicious dish, and can be modified to use what ever leftovers you may have. In the summer we put our fresh, organic tomatoes in it. It is so good, and a good way to use all those extra eggs!

Going up the "Camels Back"

With Boise have 12 consecutive days below freezing and single digit low temperatures, I can not bring myself to post another winter photo.

One of my favorite SUMMER activities is hiking. This set of stairs is in the Boise foothills above Camels Back Park.

Big Wheels Keep On Turning

Taken South of Boise January 2013

This type of irrigation is known as wheel line irrigation. It is an efficient way to irrigate small parcels of farm land.
Taken near Picabo Idaho March 2011

Picabo Idaho is a small farming community 19 miles south east of Sun Valley Idaho. It is also the name sake for US Olympic skier Picabo Street. She grew up in near by Triumph Idaho.

More Ice Cycles!!!!!!

This looks like something right out of "The Christmas Story"

My neighbor has a chain for a downspout. It always makes to most beautiful natural art every winter.

Woody The Woodpecker And Friends

Our yard is a certified backyard wildlife habitat. This is a free program through the National Wildlife federation. This is a free program, that is easy to do. Basically you just need to provide wildlife friendly plants   and a water source.

We woke up this morning to hundreds of birds in our yard this morning. We had Ground Doves, a pair of Robins and our resident Woodpecker pair. We also had quite a few Sharp Shinned Hawks souring overhead. It is fun to see them interact. If you look at the upper left picture you will see that the Robin statistically is perched under the Woodpecker waiting for it to drop some food. The single picture above is where the Woodpecker said it was not amused by this act.

In addition to the birds we have several ground squirrels that take residence in our trees as well.

Recipe For An Ice Sculpture!!!

All you need to make your own homemade ice sculpture is a very cold fence and a snow blower!

We are going on three weeks of below freezing temperatures. This morning I woke up to 4 degrees on my thermometer, and it is forecast to remain the same all week.

Yesterday in the heat of the day (22 degrees) someone used a snow blower on our parking lot. This was the result. I did not have my camera so I took this with my phone.

Coffee is always good after making your ice sculpture!!!

I Am Helping With The Bills!!!!

I am not sure what was on this particular statement, but what ever it was Anya liked it. As soon as I opened it, she jumped on the table and started rolling all over it "helping with the bills"

More Snow

Our 1/2" of snow forecast turned into about 6" by the end of the day. This was taken in my front yard at lunch time.

The weekend was very cold so I redesigned my page. Let me know if there is any of it that is hard to read or follow. I would welcome any comments or criticisms about the new design.

The Old Mule- When Trucks Were Made Of Steel

I found this old 1951 circa Chevrolet 6400 1 ton truck in an industrial park

Remember the good old days when cars were made of steel? The steering wheel, the dash board, even the seat all were made of cold hard steel. The only purpose for this era of trucks was to move heavy objects! A 92 HP 6-cylinder engine would not get any where fast. The top speed on the speedometer is 80 mph. What it lacked in speed it made up for in strength. Wiki stated this was "state of the art":: a 5-speed transmission!!!
