Merry Christmas To All, And To All A Good Night....

Opening Gifts on Christmas Eve Circa 1963
(me with back to camera)

Opening our gifts before midnight mass was always our tradition. My Mom never complained about cooking a very elaborate Christmas Eve dinner, and our eating so fast that we didn't taste it. After dinner we all ran into the living room, except Mom. We all sat in front of the tree, impatiently waiting for her to clean the kitchen, all by herself, of course. On Christmas day she would start all over again. She'd make a very nice breakfast, then start prepping dinner either at our, or my Aunt Flora's, house. It's a wonder she didn't collapse of sheer exhaustion from her schedule! Gotta love the 60's, including the sexism that still was there with all the "women's work".
